Follow the Heart Upstream

Message to self I choose what has heart.

Note by Sanjeevan Premkumar ·

Some things take years to find. Love, purpose, the place we're meant to be. A salmon can swim a lifetime against the current just to reach where it belongs.

Our years are just as limited, so it's worth asking where they go. At work, it's easy to keep grinding on something hollow because it pays. In life, it's easy to keep pouring time into people we hope will one day care.

The rule is the same in both: if there's no heart in it, let it go. Spend the years on what means something, and on the people who already show up with theirs.
