The Quiet Courage to Be

Message to self Only the quiet daily courage to be lets the air soften our hearts again.

Note by Sanjeevan Premkumar ·

It's easy to protect your heart the way you'd keep something precious in a jar. It feels safe at first, but as you grow, the jar becomes the thing holding you back. You can live so defensively that you never really get to live: surviving instead of thriving, existing instead of living, resigned instead of joyful. Distrust hardens us slowly, like silver tarnishing in the air. What softens us again isn't a big breakthrough. It's the quiet, daily courage to simply be, and to show up open even when holding back feels safer. Some days there's nothing new to say, and that's okay, because presence is the share.
