Stand Back Up, Stronger

Message to self Tired isn't the end. Every time you stand back up, you rise stronger.

Note by Sanjeevan Premkumar ·

Last weekend in Nice, looters knocked a shop manager to the ground, and he got right back up to guard the door of the place where he makes a living. Within days, people around the world were cheering for him and lining up outside his shop to help him rebuild.

The ones who tore things down are already forgotten. The man who stood back up is the one we remember.

I think that's what growth really looks like. It doesn't wait for us to feel rested. It happens when we're worn out and we answer the message we've been avoiding, we face the bill we've been putting off, or we lead with something real when it would be easier to fake it. Every time we get back up, we stand up as someone a little newer and a little deeper than before.

Resilience isn't about never falling. It's about how we grow into our highest selves, one rising at a time.
