Data Shows, Systems Move

Message to self Measure what matters, then have the courage to adjust.

Note by Sanjeevan Premkumar ·

A few days ago I wrote that every business needs someone who can read what its numbers are saying. This week I took online courses in the tools many marketers use to help clients rank higher on search engines, and today I finished two certifications in them.

What stayed with me went beyond data. Numbers only help when there's a system behind them.

Since October 1, I've tracked every day. Habits, progress, a daily score. Some days worked and some didn't, and now I can see which. Each week I reflect, adjust and try again. A score gives me something to beat tomorrow, and sharing it publicly keeps me honest.

Business works the same way. The right measures lead to better plans in every part of the work.

Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

Data shows the way. A system you keep showing up for is what moves you.
